Back When Life Was Just Fun
Assalamualaikum wbt,
Hi!
Hum hum hum… How do I start this?
I bought a new phone? Pulun sangat, Aisyah oii! But seriously, I did buy one. Not that I don’t love my Blackberry—it’s just that it kept breaking down, and my mom said the repair money could actually buy a new phone. So, on her advice, I got a new one. Though honestly, I already had my eyes on it, haha. Still, I’m keeping my BB because I’m attached to it. Anyone can use it if they want, but I’m not selling it. The new phone isn’t as fancy as others, but I love it—and that’s what matters.
This year, many of my friends are getting married. Do I feel left behind? Honestly… a bit, hehe. But I’m happy for them. This semester has been full of ups and downs—some good, some… well, let’s just say complicated.
For the first time, I went out with my UiTM friends! We just walked around TS, Masjid Jamek, and Sogo. Literally walked because we didn’t buy anything, haha. But! We did try doing a manicure. Perak buih, hahaha.
Before the semester break, I ate out a lot. No wonder my money disappeared so fast T.T Ayam bakar, Secret Recipe, spaghetti—you name it. Toward the end, I realized I should’ve just gone to the night market. My first time there wasn’t bad at all.
Oh—and the best news? I got appointed as ketua bilik, kikiki. On the last day before the break, I had a test. I stayed back at the faculty out of pure panic, though I still didn’t study that hard. The highlight? I met someone for the first time that semester during the test. Happy gila, even though I was clearly just comforting myself.
Semester break came, and I took full advantage of it!
I reached home on Thursday night, and by Saturday evening, I was off to Penang. My friend came to Sungai Petani to pick me up because she was bored. Since she just got back from overseas, my mom allowed it. Before heading to Penang, we stopped at Taman Ria for dinner. Funny how I’ve lived in SP for years but never knew where to eat. Met Afiq for a bit, then continued to Penang.
Once there, I was craving naan cheese at Kapitan. It reminded me of Min and her calls. Unfortunately, the lady there was off that day and heading to Batu Feringgi’s night market. So of course, we decided to tag along. Even though we didn’t get our naan, we walked around, chatted, and ended the night eating elsewhere.
The next day, Dibah and I went exploring around Penang. I swear, it’s always either Perak or Penang with me! After that, where next? Pahang? Haha, who knows. We waited for her tutorial to finish and then went to Straits Quay for lunch—budget kaya, hahaha. After eating, we wandered to Gurney. Since she had free movie tickets, we watched GI Joe. Then… disaster—we couldn’t find her car! Kesian betul.
Remember that naan I didn’t get the night before? We made up for it the next day. We searched high and low until we finally found Kapitan, right near Kassim Mustaffa and Line Clear, just across from Little India. The night market there was lively, full of food stalls. So satisfying!
The next morning, we headed out early because Dibah had to clerk patients at Hospital Seberang Jaya. I tagged along but stayed outside since I didn’t want to follow her into the ward. Afterward, we went back to the island for lunch. I nearly cried looking at the spread—so many dishes, and the gulai Penang was thick and rich. You’ll never get that in Shah Alam, huhuhu.
After eating, we went to PMC because Dibah had a lecture. Since we were already nearby, I asked her to drop me at the Butterworth station later, but she didn’t know the way, tsskk. First time stepping into a med school lecture hall—perak buih! The topic was Parkinson’s tremors, so at least I learned a bit. One of her friends even showed me how to nap during lectures, haha. Luckily, the next lecture was canceled because the slides had some geli photos.
When everything ended, she sent me to the jetty. I joked to myself while waiting—it’d been ages since I last took the ferry on foot! Felt a bit lost when I reached Butterworth, but luckily the bus arrived fast.
Back home, I mostly stayed in. I only went out when Mom asked me to get tickets. Met up with Ju after ages—always endless stories with her, haha. The next day, I took Mom to the post office and treated her to lunch (okay, maybe “paw-ed” is more accurate, haha). Before heading back to Shah Alam, Mom reminded me to visit the clinic since I was meeting the burung family the next day. Missed them so much!
That morning, as usual, I troubled my sister-in-law to send me to the bus station. A taxi from home costs RM10—mahai puii! No bus, of course. Story of my life. I went to Butterworth again to catch the ferry to Penang. After an hour, the two anak burung finally arrived, grrr.
Once we got there, we went straight to eat because we were starving. Ended up at Prangin Mall, but surprise—it had turned into 1st Avenue! So fancy now. After eating, we bumped into Ironman doing promotions, haha. Took the lift, bought movie tickets, and played a sensor-based game before the show. It was so fun—I probably looked like a total newbie.
After the movie, we hunted for street art. Bajet pelancong, rented bicycles (totally can’t handle it but hey, it worked). It was tiring, but so worth it.
Haishh, best sangat okayy. Dah malas nak taip. Tata!
